The sole wraps around the edges similar to a climbing shoe which means you can really stick it into corners and cracks and not be worried about catching edges. The Quick Lave system not only locks in your ankle for superior support, but also means that it is super quick to get on and off. Emptying a bit of gravel out or changing socks will be no worries at all.
